Smoke could be seen above the buildings near the Majestic Theater at Main and Preston early this afternoon.
Firefighters were arriving at the scene around 12:40 p.m. Smoke could be seen coming from behind Deans Easy Credit and Clothing at 316 Main, according to one eyewitness. Diners at Mia Bella Trattoria were being evacuated.
No further information was immediately available.

I guess nobody was available to WALK the few blocks from the Chron building to the news scene, interview a public official, and call the information back into the mothership.
But it’s nice to know the news team could see smoke out of their windows at 801 Texas Avenue!
