Yesterday, Chron.com posted an AP story about a recent urban walkability study, and supplied the following headline:
That really wasn’t consistent with the story, but Chron headline writing is frequently an adventure, so it wasn’t that surprising.
However, sometime after Chelsea Hotel Number Two and Lose an Eye, It’s a Sport skewered the story, it got a new headline and subheadline:
D.C. the top city in walkability; Tampa, not so much
The Houston area ranks No. 21 on the list with Sugar Land Town Square
It’s worth noting that the Houston area finished 21st out of the 30 largest Metro areas analyzed (helpful context), and that Sugar Land’s Town Square apparently counted in the Houston area’s favor (illustrating that this wasn’t really a survey of urban walkability, but a survey of walkable places in metro areas including suburbs).
